US Residents, Outside the US:

Global Choice

Global Choice is an outstanding program of network access and health care services for US employees residing temporarily outside the United States. Through the arrangements between UnitedHealth International and its international allies, employers now have access to an international hospital network in addition to UnitedHealthcare's extensive US network. The benefits available to expatriate employees internationally are very similar to the benefits to which they are accustomed in the United States.

The program provides uniquely designed, comprehensive benefits, supported by strong international and domestic networks of health care providers and facilities.

Network access:

Access to UnitedHealth International's affiliated hospital network in 100 countries around the world; access to UnitedHealthcare's extensive US-based health care provider network, including more than 560,000 physicians and other health care providers, 5,000 hospitals across the Centers of Excellence facilities for transplant services, and ancillary medical services; assistance in locating and accessing network health care providers through UnitedHealth International's partners; simplified administration, allowing employees to access care in the United States when home or on leave.

Global claim administration:

Extensive experience in international claims administration, including direct payment to health care providers in their local currency.

24/7 customer call center and assistance:

Telephone access to a dedicated multi-lingual help line, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including air ambulance, medical repatriation, and advice on accessing the most conveniently located English-speaking health care professionals.

A choice of benefit plans:

Global Choice offers plans with different levels of benefits to suit the needs of different types of employers; comprehensive PPO-style benefits offer choices both internationally and within the US. Individuals can access care from network health care providers, or have the freedom to choose services from non-network health care providers at an additional cost; employers may choose to have their administration on a self-insured basis, with UnitedHealth International providing the access, referral, administration and claims payment, globally.
